Reflections About A Day in the World Shoes
On November 6, Thursday, it was A day in the world shoes. This day we learned about global issues. From Hong Kong charity, called Cross Road, people came to help us to know about poverty. In this day we experienced 3 activities. First activity is to experience the life of the poorest of the poor. We were gather up to families. The mission was to survive by making paper bags and selling them to the shop keepers. After we had lunch eating foods that are in low quality. The lunch was made by rice, carrot, cabbage, potatoes, and tea with 10% water. Later on we experianced as handicap person goal was to across the small river. Also experienced how hard to earn water from the village to the water tank. Finally we learned about stereotypes that each people have.
From these activites I have learned that I can also make differenceto the world. Now I can understand living in poverty is very difficult. For example, in making bags if one of the family member is gone you have to work twice as much. Also learned how important is each family member in poverty circle. In lunch time I felt some kind of mood that made me very miserable. Felt like a person begging for money. Activity crossing the river I have learned people that are handicapped needs help. If they don’t get help they will fall to the river and die. Last but no least when we learned about stereotypes I experience people act good at me because I was the US real estate developer which is rich. But to the Thai prostitute people were not comfortable talking.
People in poverty people were suffering not because of the money they were suffering by other obstacles. Treating person in poverty differently and by the disease they have. They didn’t wanted to have these things so I think we have to help the people to overrun these problems. In school we are earning money to help people in poverty to go school. I am very proud of that i have added money to making the school for the people that is needed.
